## About this data

Memory prices swing with supply, and a kit’s sticker price hides how much you pay per gigabyte. Each row is one kit at one retailer, with its generation, capacity, speed, price and price per GB.

Prices are read once a day from public retailer listings; the sources line under the table names each one. A price is stored when it changes, so the history shows how each kit moved. Listing prices can change during the day, and a kit that goes out of stock drops out until it is back.

### How often is it refreshed?

The data is collected daily. A value is stored only when it changes, with the first and last day it was seen, so the history is complete without repeating unchanged rows.

### Can I download the full history?

Yes. GET /v1/datasets/ram-prices/download returns a short-lived link to the whole dataset as one SQLite file, every item and every recorded change since collection started, for 500 credits. Open it with sqlite3, DuckDB, pandas or Datasette.

### Where does the data come from?

It is collected from public retailer listings, and every row records its source.

### How is price per GB worked out?

The kit’s price divided by its total capacity, so a 2 x 16 GB kit is divided by 32. It makes kits of different sizes comparable.
