# MarineTraffic vessels: `POST /v1/maritime/vessels`

Cost: 2 credits (2 when the tile contains vessels (an empty tile and failed requests are free)). Docs: https://scrapercompany.com/docs/reference/maritime-vessels

One call returns the vessels in the single map tile that contains the point. `zoom` is an integer from 1 to 20 (default 12); a lower zoom covers more sea. There is no page token: `total` is how many vessels this tile returned. `speed_knots` is speed in knots. Each position is the latest one reported for that vessel in the tile. The response does not promise that every vessel in the area is listed, or that a position is newer than any particular age. `elapsed_s` is included with the position.

A tile with no vessels is HTTP 200 and is not charged. A block, an upstream failure, or a tile whose rows cannot be read is HTTP 503 with `Retry-After` and is not charged.

Live AIS vessel positions in the MarineTraffic tile holding a point.

Each vessel carries its latest reported position, speed (knots),
course, heading, destination, flag and dimensions. One tile answers
per call; lower zooms cover more sea. An empty tile is not charged.

Request body (JSON):

- `lat` (number; required; min -90, max 90): Latitude of the point to look up.
- `lon` (number; required; min -180, max 180): Longitude of the point to look up.
- `zoom` (integer; optional; default 12; min 1, max 20): Map zoom (1-20). One tile at this zoom answers; lower zooms cover more sea.
