# SEC company lookup: `POST /v1/sec/companies`

SEC filers for a ticker, CIK or name, best match first, with the
`cik` every other `/v1/sec/*` route takes. Names cover every EDGAR
filer: listed companies, funds and advisers, private issuers and the
people who file insider reports. No match is an empty list and is not
charged.

Request body (JSON):

- `query` (string; required; min length 1, max length 120): Ticker, CIK or name as typed into EDGAR's company search: listed companies, funds, private issuers and people who file.
- `limit` (integer; optional; default 10; min 1, max 25): Most filers returned.

Base URL: `https://api.scrapercompany.com`. Auth: send your key in the `x-api-key` header. A failed request (4xx or 5xx) or an empty result costs 0 credits.
