One question, four tool calls

Watch an assistant answer with live prices through the MCP server, and what the whole answer cost.

  • data from the API
  • added by your code

Example · travel assistant

Can an agent answer with live prices, and what does it cost?

  1. MCP: resolve_hotel
  2. hotel_rate_calendar
  3. hotel_offers
  4. flight_search
  5. your agent

Is the Alfama Rooftop Hotel under $250 a night for May 3–5? And find me a flight from Toronto.

  1. resolve_hotel (Alfama Rooftop Hotel, Lisbon)1 cr
  2. hotel_rate_calendar (token, days: 14)5 cr
  3. hotel_offers (token, May 3 → 2 nights)3 cr
  4. flight_search (YYZ → LIS, May 2 – May 5)3 cr

Yes. May 3 is $228 and May 4 is $241 on the hotel's own site, the cheapest of 5 sellers. Booking.com is $8 more a night.

The best flight leaves Toronto May 2 at 21:40, one stop, $712 round trip. Want the booking options?

4 tool calls · 12 credits for the whole answer

Fictional hotel and prices. Tool names and credit costs are real.

The problem

Can our agent quote real hotel and flight prices?

A language model can plan a trip but cannot know tonight’s price. Answers built on stale training data or a scraped page break the first time a user tries to book.

Agents need tools with tight inputs, structured outputs and a known cost, so they can call the right source and stay within budget.

Workflow

How teams build it

  1. Step 1

    Add the server

Point any MCP client that can send a header, such as Claude Code or Cursor, at the server URL with your API key. Claude Desktop connects through a small bridge.

  2. Step 2

    Resolve the hotel

The agent calls resolve_hotel with a name and city and gets back a property token.

  3. Step 3

    Fetch prices

hotel_rate_calendar returns nightly prices, and hotel_offers returns each booking site’s price for the chosen night.

    POST /v1/calendar
  4. Step 4

    Plan the flight

flight_search, flight_next_leg and flight_booking_options walk a round trip from search to sellers.

    POST /v1/serp/google_flights

Which MCP clients work?

Any client that can send a header to a remote server, such as Claude Code and Cursor. Claude Desktop connects through the mcp-remote bridge.

Is it read-only?

Yes. The tools read travel data and your credit balance. They cannot book, pay or change your account.

Does the MCP server cost extra?

No. Each tool wraps one REST endpoint and is billed exactly like it. Listing the tools is free.

Is OAuth supported?

Not yet. The server authenticates with your API key, and OAuth support is on the roadmap.
