Beyond travel: search, maps, jobs, shopping, social data

Google News, Google Search (organic + People Also Ask + AI Overview), Bing, Trends, Maps, Jobs, Shopping, Amazon, Walmart and Indeed through the same API and key.

Overview

The same API key now reaches beyond travel: news, web search, maps, trends, shopping, jobs and retail marketplaces. Every engine returns structured JSON, follows the same error and credit rules as the hotel sources, and lists its reference page under API reference.

Google News

Google’s own RSS wire: keyword search (q) or a section feed (topic — world, business, technology…), newest first, up to 100 stories per page. when appends Google’s freshness operator (1h, 1d, 7d, 1y). Each story carries its publisher and Google’s canonical redirect link.

POST/v1/google/search returns one page of organic results with titles, display URLs and snippets. Google serves a JavaScript shell to plain HTTP, so this renders the page in a real browser — seconds per call, the honest cost of the flagship.

People Also Ask and AI Overview

The same answer carries people_also_ask (the questions only: answers load on expansion and are not in the DOM) and ai_overview — the AI Overview text when Google generates one for the query, null otherwise. link values are Google’s /goto redirects unless resolve: true, which follows each redirect (one request per result) and returns the destination.

Google Maps

POST/v1/maps/search takes whatever the Maps search box takes — a business name, “ramen near Shibuya”, a landmark — and returns place cards with name, address, coordinates, rating, phone, website, category and a place_token. POST/v1/maps/detail pins the token (and the name from the same search row) and adds the review count.

POST/v1/trends/interest returns the 0–100 interest timeline for a keyword (relative to the keyword’s own peak, exactly as Google’s charts state; time_range uses Google’s own grammar like today 1-m or now 7-d). POST/v1/trends/related returns top queries (0–100) and rising queries (growth percentages; above 5000% Google answers “Breakout”, carried as breakout: true with a null value).

Google Shopping

One page (~10) of product cards per call: title, price, merchant, condition chips (“Pre-owned”) and Google’s data-pid. Google renders the same product more than once; the answer dedupes by data-pid.

Amazon

POST/v1/amazon/search answers over plain HTTP with one page (~48) of result cards. Prices follow the local point-of-sale — a Canadian exit answers CAD — so price_text keeps the display string verbatim and currency carries the guess from its symbol. Sponsored rows come labelled in sponsored, never dropped.

Reviews come from the product page

Amazon’s /product-reviews list requires sign-in (measured over plain HTTP and in a fresh browser), so POST/v1/amazon/reviews answers with the product page’s own reviews widget, rendered in a real browser: the 5→1 histogram, the global ratings count, and the featured reviews with their “Verified Purchase” badge and helpful-vote counts.

Walmart

Both calls answer over plain HTTP from Walmart’s own embedded store JSON — no browser. POST/v1/walmart/search returns items with brand, price with currency, rating and review counts. POST/v1/walmart/reviews returns one page (10) of reviews plus the summary: average, total, per-star counts and percentages, recommended percentage, and Walmart’s own next_page url.

Jobs: Google Jobs and Indeed

POST/v1/jobs/search renders Google’s jobs panel (seconds per call — Google serves a JS shell to plain HTTP): each card carries the title, company, location, the upstream publisher (via), the relative posting age, the employment type, and the apply links with their sources.

POST/v1/indeed/jobs answers over plain HTTP with one page (~45) of Indeed job records: salary verbatim plus Indeed’s extracted min/max and period, the relative posting age, the creation date from Indeed’s epoch, the company’s rating, and Indeed’s redirect link. Sponsored rows come labelled, not dropped.

Costs

Everything above prices like the rest of the API: 1 credit for the light engines (News, Bing, Trends, Amazon search, Walmart search, Indeed), 2 credits per review page (hotel sources, Amazon reviews, Walmart reviews), 3 credits for Maps, Jobs and Shopping pages, 5 for a rendered Google web-search page. A page with no results is free, and failed requests are free. See Credits & billing for the full schedule.
