Endpoints and prices checked against the API on
Product, marketing and research teams follow Play Store listings to track competitors’ ratings, installs, release cadence and what users complain about. Google’s Play Developer API only covers apps in your own developer account, and its reviews endpoint returns only reviews from the past week. This API reads the public Play Store for any app: the full listing, its reviews page by page, and the search results.
Apps are identified by their package name, the id= value in a Play Store URL. Play localizes everything: gl sets the storefront, which decides the price currency and the country’s rating histogram, and hl sets the language of the text. Counts and dates also come back as numbers and ISO timestamps, including Play’s unrounded install count next to its rounded label such as 50,000,000+, so you can compare apps across markets without parsing localized text.

Does Google Play have an official API?
Google’s Play Developer API is for managing your own apps: publishing, purchases and subscriptions, and replying to reviews. Its reviews endpoint covers only apps in your developer account and returns only reviews created or modified in the past week. ScraperCompany is independent of Google: this API reads public Play Store pages for any app and needs no developer account.
How do I find an app’s package name?
It is the id= value in the app’s Play Store URL: for play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spotify.music it is com.spotify.music. The search endpoint also returns it as app_id for every result.
How many reviews can I get per call?
Up to 200 per page, set with count. Pass next_page_token back as page_token, with the same sort and star filter, to get the next page; the token is absent on the last page. Each page is billed once whatever its size, and an empty page is free.
Do ratings and prices change by country?
Yes. gl sets the storefront, which decides the price currency and which country’s rating histogram you get, so the same app can show a different average in France than in the US. hl sets the language of the listing text.
How many search results does Play return?
One page of up to about 30 apps, in Play’s own order. Play does not serve a second page for a query, so use more specific queries to reach more apps. A navigational query such as spotify puts Play’s featured card first, marked featured.
Do failed requests cost credits?
No. A failed or blocked call (any 4xx or 5xx response) costs 0 credits, and so does a search page that comes back empty. You pay only for successful results.
How do I get an API key?
Create an account on the sign-up page. Public sign-up is invite-only during the beta, so join the waitlist there and we will email you when your account is ready. The Free plan includes 1,000 credits a month, and the API is free while it is in beta. You create and rotate keys yourself in the dashboard.
