Endpoints and prices checked against the API on

Brands, retailers and pricing teams track what Walmart charges and how its customers rate products, often next to Amazon. Walmart’s developer APIs are built for its sellers, suppliers, advertisers and affiliates, not for reading the catalog at large. This API reads the public search and review pages and returns the data Walmart’s own store uses: about 40 items per search page and up to 50 pages, in Walmart’s sort orders, with sponsored items labelled rather than removed.

Every item has a numeric item ID, the same number that ends its walmart.com URL, and the reviews endpoint takes it. Reviews come 10 per page in Walmart’s own orders (most relevant, most helpful, newest, highest or lowest rating) with the Verified Purchase badge. Every page also carries the item’s rating summary: the average, the total, the count and percentage at each star level, and the share of reviewers who recommend it. Walmart’s M/D/YYYY dates are returned as ISO dates.

What you get

  • item_id — Walmart’s numeric item ID, the number at the end of the product URL, which the reviews call takes
  • name, brand, url — product name, brand and walmart.com link
  • price, currency — the current price and its currency
  • rating, ratings_count — average rating and number of reviews shown on the result
  • sponsored — true for paid placements, which keep their position in the results
  • aggregated_count — the number of matching items Walmart reports for the search
  • summary — average, total, per-star counts and percentages, and recommended_pct
  • reviews[] — rating, title, text, ISO date, author and labels such as Verified Purchase

Does Walmart have a public API?

Not for reading the catalog at large. Walmart’s developer portal offers Marketplace APIs for sellers and solution providers, Supplier APIs for companies that sell to Walmart directly, and advertising and carrier APIs; Walmart I/O offers an Affiliates API for publishers who promote Walmart products. ScraperCompany is independent of Walmart: this API reads the public walmart.com search and review pages and needs no partner account.

How do I find a Walmart item ID?

Every search result carries item_id. It is also the number at the end of a walmart.com product URL (for walmart.com/ip/PAVILIA-Black-Women-Robe-5255687930 it is 5255687930). Pass it to the reviews endpoint.

How many reviews can I get for an item?

Walmart serves reviews 10 per page and page goes up to 100, so up to 1,000 reviews per sort order. Each page is one call. The rating summary with per-star counts comes with every page, so one call is enough for an item’s rating breakdown.

Are sponsored products included?

Yes, labelled. Sponsored items stay in the position Walmart shows them, with sponsored set to true, so you can measure paid placement or filter it out.

How do sorting and paging work in search?

Each page returns about 40 items and page goes up to 50. sort takes Walmart’s own orders: best match, price low to high or high to low, highest rating, best sellers and newest. An empty page is free.

Do failed requests cost credits?

No. A failed or blocked call (any 4xx or 5xx response) costs 0 credits, and so does a search page that comes back empty. You pay only for successful results.
