Resellers, price researchers and marketplace builders use Craigslist to see what second-hand goods sell for in a city and how much is on offer. Craigslist does not offer an API for reading its listings. This API reads Craigslist’s public search page for a city and returns each result as JSON, with the price as a number and its currency named.

The city is the Craigslist area name you see in its addresses: newyork, sfbay, chicago, toronto, vancouver, london and so on. One call returns the whole result page, up to about 350 listings for a common search, across the city’s own area (Toronto includes Mississauga and Brampton). Prices come in the city’s currency: USD in US cities, CAD in Canadian ones, GBP in London.

Does Craigslist have an API?

Not for reading listings. ScraperCompany is independent of Craigslist: this API reads Craigslist’s public search pages and needs no Craigslist account.

Which cities can I search?

Any Craigslist area, named as in its address (newyork, sfbay, losangeles, toronto, montreal, london). Results cover the whole area, including the towns Craigslist groups under it.

How many listings does one call return?

Every result Craigslist shows on the search page: up to about 350 for a common search, fewer for a rare one. Set limit for fewer. It is one call and one price either way.

Are photos and descriptions included?

Not from the search page, which shows only the title, price and neighbourhood. Kijiji (Canada) adds the address, coordinates, a short description, an image and the posting time, on the same key.

Do failed requests cost credits?

No. A failed or blocked call (any 4xx or 5xx response) costs 0 credits, and so does a search page that comes back empty. You pay only for successful results.

How do I get an API key?

Create an account on the sign-up page and verify your email. You get a free trial of 50 calls or 14 days, whichever ends first, no card needed on the travel endpoints (hotels, rentals, flights, reviews); for everything else, and after the trial, buy a credit pack (from $15) or pick a plan. You create and rotate keys yourself in the dashboard.

More APIs on the same key

All APIs
Amazon API

Search amazon.com the way a shopper does and get each result as JSON: ASIN, title, price, rating, ratings count and whether it is sponsored. Then read a product’s star breakdown and the reviews Amazon features on its page.

Walmart API

Search walmart.com and get each item as JSON: item ID, name, brand, price, rating, review count and whether it is sponsored. Then page through an item’s reviews with Walmart’s own rating summary.

Web scraping API

Send a URL, get the page back as HTML, markdown or text. When a site answers with a block, a rate limit or a bot check, the request is retried automatically, and you pay only for a page that comes back with content.

Booking.com API

Look a hotel up by name, then read what Booking.com shows a guest: a nightly price calendar, each room type with its rate plans, and the reviews with the property’s replies. Structured JSON, priced per call.

Start with 50 free calls

Create an account and verify your email: your own API keys and a free trial of 50 calls or 14 days, whichever ends first, no card needed. Then buy a credit pack from $15 or pick a plan from $49 a month.
