Endpoints and prices checked against the API on
Tripadvisor is both a review site and a hotel metasearch: one hotel page lists offers from several booking sites next to the hotel’s traveller reviews. Teams read it to see which site shows the lowest price for a stay and to follow what guests write on a 5-point scale. Tripadvisor’s official API is a content API for locations, photos and reviews; this API returns the offers and reviews on the hotel’s public page.
Prices on Tripadvisor are not all the same kind. Tripadvisor picks a pricing mode for each hotel, so the lead price can be nightly or for the whole stay, before or after taxes. Every offer comes back with its mode and an all-in stay total, so offers can be compared. Offers can arrive over several seconds; the API waits for them and says whether the list is complete, and it refuses a reply for a different stay rather than return it. Each call prices one stay of up to 30 nights, without room types or cancellation terms.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Read next
Does Tripadvisor have an official API?
Yes, for content. Tripadvisor’s official API, now its Terra platform, returns location details, photos and a set number of recent reviews for hotels, restaurants and attractions, with usage-based pricing and rules for display and caching. Its documented endpoints do not include the booking-site prices on a hotel page. ScraperCompany is independent of Tripadvisor: this API reads the offers and reviews a visitor sees on the hotel’s Tripadvisor page.
How do I find a hotel’s Tripadvisor locationId?
Take the number after -d in the hotel’s Tripadvisor URL. For tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g60745-d17768161-Reviews-Moxy_Boston_Downtown-Boston_Massachusetts.html, the locationId is 17768161. The same id works for prices and reviews. Search by hotel name is not available yet.
Which booking sites appear in Tripadvisor prices?
Whichever sites Tripadvisor lists for that hotel and stay, often including Booking.com, Expedia and Hotels.com. Each offer names its provider. Metasearch prices can trail the booking site’s own, so for a site’s exact price and rate plans use that site’s own endpoints.
Are Tripadvisor prices per night or per stay?
It depends on the hotel: Tripadvisor chooses whether the lead price is nightly or for the whole stay, and before or after taxes. Each offer returns pricing_mode, price_is and taxes_included next to price, plus total, the all-in stay total. Compare offers on total, or on nightly where it is given.
How many Tripadvisor reviews does one call return?
Up to 30, newest first, with the hotel’s review count in total. Page through the rest with offset, adding limit each time. Ratings are on Tripadvisor’s 5-point scale, and stay_date is the month of the stay (YYYY-MM), not a day.
Do failed requests cost credits?
No. A failed or blocked call (any 4xx or 5xx response) costs 0 credits, and so does a search page that comes back empty. You pay only for successful results.
How do I get an API key?
Create an account on the sign-up page. Public sign-up is invite-only during the beta, so join the waitlist there and we will email you when your account is ready. The Free plan includes 1,000 credits a month, and the API is free while it is in beta. You create and rotate keys yourself in the dashboard.
