Google Maps scraper API

Search Google Maps the way a person does, “coffee shops in Boston” or “hotels near Fenway”, and get every place as JSON with its address, coordinates, rating, phone number and website.

1,000 free credits a month · Failed requests are free · Free during the beta

The Google Maps API returns the places Google Maps lists for a query: name, address, GPS coordinates, rating, phone, website and category, each with a place token. The detail call takes that token and returns the full record for one place, including its review count.

Teams use it to build lead lists, map competitors around a hotel, enrich a CRM with phone numbers and websites, or check that their own listing shows the right details. Results are localized by country and language.

What you get

  • name, category — the business as Google Maps shows it
  • address, gps_coordinates — street address with latitude and longitude
  • rating, reviews — average rating and number of reviews
  • phone, website — contact details when the place lists them
  • place_token — id for the detail call

One call, structured JSON

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the Google Places API?

Google’s Places API is billed per field group and returns what Google chooses to expose to API customers. This API returns what the Google Maps results page shows for a query, as one JSON record per place, for a fixed 3 credits per call.

Can I search a specific city or neighbourhood?

Yes. Put the place in the query, for example “restaurants in Back Bay Boston”, and set the country and language with gl and hl.

Does it return reviews?

Places carry their rating and review count. For hotel review text, use the Google Hotels reviews endpoint, which returns the reviews themselves.

Do failed requests cost credits?

No. A failed or blocked call (any non-2xx response) costs 0 credits, and so does a search page that comes back empty. You pay only for successful results.

How do I get an API key?

Request a free API key through the contact page. The Free plan includes 1,000 credits a month, and the API is free while it is in beta. You create and rotate keys yourself in the dashboard.
